Education and Service Development Consultant, VTPU
Susan has worked as an Occupational Therapist in a range of health and disability settings. She has worked with consumers with complex mental health problems in community and correctional settings. She has also held education and service development roles related to promoting recovery approaches within adult mental health services, consumer and carer participation and more recently prevention and early intervention strategies related to young peoples’ mental health. She has worked in Sudan and Ethiopia with refugees and rural communities and subsequently co-authored a manual, for use in income poor countries, by health workers assisting those physically and emotionally traumatised by war, political violence and land-mines. Susan has also has a MA (Research) in Anthropology and has taught sociology and anthropology at an undergraduate level. Her research interests explore socio-cultural understandings of trauma, experience and ethics.
