Several members of the VTPU team attended and presented at this year’s TheMHS Conference (1st-4th September), held in Perth, Western Australia, in conjunction with the 1st Australian Refugee Health Conference (1st-2nd September) and the 3rd Western Australian Transcultural Mental Health Conference (2nd-4th of September). A number of VTPU staff members were involved in presentations on a range of projects. VTPU’s consumer consultant, Evan Bichara, presented a very stimulating and inspirational presentation titled 'From Mental Illness to Recovery - A CALD Consumer’s Perspective'. | Mental Health Awareness with the Somali Community |

ADEC conducted a Somali Education project with the Somali community in the Northern Region earlier this year. The project which took approximately 9 months was exciting and successful. It enhanced the relationship and trust between the community and their participating services. ADEC hope that this project or similar ones can be repeated through other services.
