RESOURCES | Translated Instruments - Preamble
bottom

These pages are designed to give access to multi-lingual psychological / psychiatric assessment tools or instruments. As this is an unfunded project, instead of seeking copies of these instruments we have opted to locate research papers that have used instruments in languages other than English. If a copy of the instrument is required, it should be requested from the authors of the papers listed in the bibliography. Most published articles denote a researcher for correspondence regarding the article or any of its research contents.

Index of research literature on multilingual psychiatric assessment instruments

Selected instruments are commonly used and have had a substantial body of research behind them. Medline searches were used for locating multi-lingual forms of the instruments. We searched for terms in the name of the instrument and overlaped this with a list of languages. In addition, some searches were based on finding related papers to initially identified articles. The selection of languages searched was based on the most common languages other than English as found in the Australian population. Once bibliographies were compiled from Medline, abstracts, titles, and keywords were examined to seek information that confirmed that the research reported did indeed use an instrument in a language other than English. When no such confirmation was possible the papers were not included in the bibliography. In addition there is a section titled "Other Instruments" which includes over 30 instruments covering anxiety, depression and behaviour measures in one or more community languages.
